As I have searched for other blogs on transitioning to wheat-free living, I come across blogs that are mainly recipes and usually recipes for desserts.
This isn’t going to be one of those – at least not in the foreseeable future. I aim to not focus on getting my (wheat-free) cake and eating too. There isn’t anything wrong with gluten-free desserts and other stuff, it’s that I don’t want to swap one for the other. I want to eat whole foods with as little processing as possible. Besides, gluten-free foods are usually made with some sort of starch that raises blood sugar and once I do that, it’s only a matter of time before I am full blown right back into binging on cakes, pies, cookies, and whatever else I can get my wheaty little hands on.
There is no judgement on those that eat gluten-free processed foods or create elaborate desserts, it’s just for me, I don’t want to go that way. So, there will be no long lists of desserts or how to modify a wheat based dessert into a wheat-free one. There are plenty of sites and blogs that do it well so I’ll leave it to them.
